Parihaka

We are learning about Parihaka. Parihaka is a village near

Mt  Taranaki. Parihaka was a really peaceful village

 that believed in the Bible. One day when the pakeha wanted more land they thought why don't we send soldiers to destroy and  kill them but they knew about it so they thought lets welcome them with  kindness . so the chiefs said the children will dance and sing and the women will make the bread so when the soldiers came they saw the children dancing and singing. Then after that the soldiers went through the children and the women of Parihaka offered the soldiers some bread. The soldiers destroyed everything and took the people to jail. When the people got out of jail they went and rebuilt the village. The soldiers felt sorry.

What is climate change ? 

Global warming and climate change are two different things. Global warming Is the temperature warming up . Climate change is the effects that global warming has on our climate like more storms, wind and heat and what it is doing to our planet.

Climate change has been causing some of the Amazon Rainforest fires which are so big that it has a big effect on wildlife and people that live in the rainforest .  

The second main reason is that the glaciers are melting because the temperature is getting warmer. When this happens, the polar bears don’t have anywhere to live. It’s making the sea temperatures warmer and they are rising. If they rise too much they flood the islands that are low.

And the third main reason is when we use fossil fuels like petrol and gas it creates carbon dioxide. This makes the temperature warmer too. This is why we should use electric cars to prevent more carbon dioxide.

Amazon Fainforest Fires

We were learning about the Amazon Rainfrorest wildfires. I enjoyed using the fill colour tool.I found it hard to make my google drawing the right size on my blog. Next time I would put more facts in my google drawing.

Caged chickens should be banned
Would you like to be a caged chicken ?
One of the main reasons is that There is too much chickens that are caged there are about 82% of chickens are caged . And they only have the space of an A4 piece  of paper .They get aggressive and kill each other .The 2nd Main reason because of diseases like Fatty liver disease  Or  Osteoporosis .And when they're in cages they can't act like real chickens so they can't perch Or Build nests .

Interdepedence

We have been learning about interdependence. I enjoyed making stuff on the google drawing like the background and text boxes. I found it challenging to find png images so I just used the remove background site.My digital object shows I can use google drawings. Next time I would add a Screencastify.

In Room 1 we have been doing a science fair.I  enjoyed watching  other people's science experiments. I found it difficult to finish my work on time.

st Vincent

We were learning about the saints
St Vincent 
He was a French Catholic priest who dedicated himself to serving the poor.St. Vincent was ordained  in 1600. In 1605, he left to go on a mission trip. On the way, he was captured, shipped to Tunis, and sold as a slave for two years. He managed to escape and returned to France.  

St Vincent had a mean temper. He prayed that God would slow his anger. 

Fizz, Foam & Froth

We were learning about Fizz foam and froth. I enjoyed making it fizz up.

Have you ever wondered what makes  fizz foam and froth?
When you put vinegar with baking soda a chemical reaction will happen  that will fizz foam and froth. The vinegar changes the properties of the baking soda.

Profile

My name is Ezra. I go to Saint Mary’s Catholic Primary School. I am in Year 5. I live with my mum and dad and sister. I have two dogs and a kitten. I live in Gisborne, New Zealand.

I am good at Reading. I like to read all sorts of books so don’t really have a favourite author. I love to play hockey. I play in the sandpit with my friends at morning tea and lunchtime. This year I want to use adjectives, juicy verbs and similes in my writing.

This year I am looking forward to doing more science experiments, and going to Nana and Poppa’s.
